A crafty Orlando blogger

I'm intrigued by the book Heartfelt, which all the felting crowd should go crazy for. I read a good review of it (and other crafty books) on Rebecca Swain's Shakespeare's Coffee blog for the Orlando Sentinel. Check out the review here.

Scarves for Hearts

A new twist on charity knitting: Betsy Doherty of Maine is calling on folks to knit red scarves to be distributed to women with heart disease, the number one killer of women in the united states. The Bangor Daily News article can be read here.

charity knitting

"Collectively they form an invisible army, creating afghans, caps for newborns, security blankets for ill or troubled children, and clothing to provide warmth and comfort."

Check out this really nice article on charity knitting from the CS Monitor. It mentions a great book that I'm loving, Knitting for Peace by Betty Christiansen. It's an uplifting and inspiring read with great patterns to boot!

Lots of the FL knitting groups are engaged in charity knitting, so if you are feeling like warming up someone's holiday season with your craftiness, you're in luck! Chances are a group near you needs you!
