Florida Knitters

A knitting group in Winona, MN has knit more than 100 pet blankets for the Jacksonville FL Humane Society after its tragic fire 3 months ago. Thank you, Minnesota! You can read the entire story here, courtesty of KARE11 news.

I've gotten several comments like this recent one:

"I can cast on, but then have trouble with the actual knit and purl stiches. Are there any beginning knitting groups around ft. lauderdale? "

the answer is YES. You are spoiled for choice as far as knitting in Ft. Lauderdale/Broward goes!

First of all, there's the Sweet Stitchin' Betties. This is a fun group that welcomes crafters of ALL skill levels, beginning or otherwise. They're my knitting peeps! There's always some friendly folks there that would be happy to get your knitting on track. If you go a bit further north, there's the North Broward Knitting Nellies and the Broward Knitters. Very nice groups of knitters! And as far as groups that meet in yarn shops, there are "sit and stitch" meetings at the Yarn Tree (Hollywood), Stitcher's Haven (Plantation), and Tropical Yarns (Miramar)
